Subject:Seamstress Guild Party in Honor of Terry Pratchett
Posted by:hereatwitsend.
Time:12:20 pm.
Mood: amused.
I just sent this out - post it where ever you wish - Mrs. Palm

Not A Needle Among 'Em

The Seamstress Guild is a loose affiliation of women and men who come
together for a variety of reasons. Our official purpose (whenever the Watch is making inquiries) is to prepare for the Seamstress Guild Party in honor of Mr. Terry Pratchett which is to be the highlight of the North American Discworld Convention's first night.

On the glorious night in question, the Grand Ballroom will be transformed into the Seamstress Guild Hall. Ladies of the Guild and gentleman from the Men's Auxiliary will be hosting a grand reception that involves food, music, and a Discworld scavenger hunt, as well as the chance to meet the very flower of Discworld Society, such as it is, and be photographed for The Truth's Society Page. Prizes for best costumes worn that evening will be awarded by our Esteemed Patron, Mr Terry Pratchett.

Mr Pratchett has also arranged for a special gift for our attendees, which will remain a secret until the night in question....

NIL VOLVPTI, SINE LVCRE
- Seamstress Guild motto

This is to be the second party of it's kind organized by the Seamstress Guild, the first taking place at the San Jose WorldCon in 2002, where Mr. Pratchett, was the Guest of Honor. The entertainment went well into the wee hours. Our Patron had such a good time with our Guild members and guests that he has asked us to do it again (it being the party, of course - Mr Pratchett has thus far refused all other offers) and so began our preparations. We are now ready to host this next event and would be most pleased if you could join us, and him, on the night in question.

Please see the first link listed below this announcement for information on the convention.

The second link will take you to the Seamstress Guild discussion board, where the men and women of the guild are gathered to plan both the party and their costumes.

Respectfully Yours,

Mrs Palm
Party Maven, NADWCon

Please note: Tickets for the convention are limited to 900. At present, we have sold over 750. Those who wait too long to buy their tickets for this event will be disappointed.

Event Location: Mission Palms Hotel - Grand Ballroom in Tempe
Event TIME Details: 7 PM - 9:30 PM

Hey,

I am thinking of going to Dragon con this year as Maladicta, but I am having a bit of trouble with the fine details. Does anyone know of a good rendition of her? I'd prefer something in the male uniform, but either would do.

I have seen the drawing on the wiki atricle but I am looking for others.Did kidby do any mostrous regiment stuff?

Thanks in advance

Time:11:47 pm.
We just got home from watching Harry Potter. My mom won a bunch of tickets to an early preview. It was very exciting. The Men In Black proctored our viewing experience.

I really liked the movie. Snape was the coolest he's ever been which is fitting for his titular book. Half-blood Prince was definitely funnier than the others and didn't have that cliff-notes feel that Order of the Phoenix had. Still, there were some major changes which I'm not sure how I feel about them, other than making me curious about the final movies.

Hi again!  x)

A couple of people expressed interest in this in my last post so I thought I'd throw it out there.

If I were to draw up a Discworld-themed poster:

Poll #1427034 Posters
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All

Would you want one?

View Answers

Yes
74 (93.7%)

No
5 (6.3%)

What would you want the theme of it to be?

View Answers

The Watch (Vimes and the gang)
62 (69.7%)

Death (Death, Binky, DoR, Susan maybe)
34 (38.2%)

The Wizards (Rincewind, Luggage, UU staff)
20 (22.5%)

The Post Office (Moist and them)
19 (21.3%)

Discworld (A'Tuin and such)
22 (24.7%)

I didn't include a Witches theme because I've only read 1 Witch book, other than the Tiffany Aching books. x)  And I didn't include Tiffany or the Feegles because I don't want to draw hundreds of Feegles, haha.  I don't know how Paul Kidby does it.

For this I would make a completely new fully drawn illustration but before I do I just want to know if people would want one! :p  How this would work would be this: I show you guys the finished image, if you like, you send $5 (not sure on this price yet) to my PayPal, and I email you a very very high-resolution version of the image.  This way... It doesn't even have to be a poster!  You can go to Zazzle or wherever you feel comfortable (this place is actually EXCELLENT if you want a very big poster) and have it printed to your liking.  Also, you wouldn't have to worry about shipping costs from me since I live in Canada.  It would cost a bundle, heh. D:

Also, it wouldn't have to be just this one image!  If you saw something in my last post that you liked, go ahead and ask and I can send you a high-res file. :D

Anyway!  Just a little thought I had. :p  I don't have a job at the moment and I haven't been having much luck with commissions.  And with the truly overwhelming response I got (I wasn't expecting so many comments!  You guys are TOO nice <3) I thought I'd give this a shot.

Also, mods, if this kind of post isn't okay (selling art that I've done that contains copyrighted characters?) feel free to remove it. D:

EDIT: I've been looking up a lot of different things on the legality of this.  Even if I don't put the names of anyone or anything on the drawings, the likeness of the characters are apparently still copyrighted.  But... They're characters in a book, right?  So I'm not sure on that.  Even though my designs are heavily inspired by Paul Kidby's art, is that official?  I don't know...  I'll wait and see if enough people want it and, I dunno, try and contact Terry Pratchett? X)  Is this possible?

Or I could make it a Poster By Donation kinda thing.  "Help this poor starving artist!"

EDIT THE SECOND: I sent an email to Colin Smythe (thank you to [info]djelibeybi_meg !)  I sure hope this works out, it looks like a lot of you would like one! :D

Mood: silly.
Here is a picture of the college I will be attending in September. Behold:

Photobucket

...the world's largest and most rectangular pumpkin!

But this entry isn't concerned so much with the colourblindness of whomever painted the place as with the identity of the person responsible for the sculpture on the lawn. I'm quite certain that Bloody Stupid Johnson is to blame, and I suspect that it was meant to be waste-management-related plumbing of some sort, but with B.S. Johnson, who can say for sure?

Bearing in mind the events that took place in Going Postal, I have resolved to give this object a wide berth. If it's Johnson's attempt at a Temporal Toilet, I do not want to go anywhere near it.

Subject:The computer is on the Fritz...
Time:11:28 am.
I am typing this from the library's computer. Because my computer is non-functional. (We're probably going to just get a new computer.) I've also torn my toe, my shower won't work as a shower (I'm using my parents') and I think my car has a flat tire.

Fun!

I've got 26 minutes left to do whatever I'm doing so I'm going to try to be social but I can't guarentee anything. And I doubt I'm going to be posting new pretties until the computer is fixed/we got a new computer because time is limited at the library (but at least it is free). Now it is 24 minutes.

Anyway, that's what's up and that's why I haven't responded to anything or posted anything over the past couple of days. And I've been feeling the withdrawal soooo bad. But yeah. That is what's up.
